7/4/2023 0 Comments The hidden oracle prophecy![]() ![]() Zeus is angry at his son Apollo for being bought off by Octavian from Camp Jupiter in the war with Gaea during the Heroes of Olympus series. In The Trials of Apollo the god of archery, prophecy, and healing has been cast down to New York City as a mortal teenage boy with the name Lester Papadopoulos. As I purchased my copy of The Trials of Apollo, I knew I could rely on Riordan to deliver a great story and he didn’t disappoint. They are books I cannot stop reading and I’m sad when the book is over. Rick Riordan’s world of mythology, Greek Roman or Norse, is brought to life in the modern world with memorable characters like Percy Jackson, Magnus Chase, and Jason Grace. I could hear her say to her mom in the distance, “See I told you it was here.” She scooped up the book and ran back to her mom before I even found the section. ![]() As I made my way down the book store isle to buy The Trials of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle, I was passed by an excited young girl searching for her copy. I am always giddy at the release of a new Rick Riordan novel. ![]() ![]() ![]() Understanding and Teaching the Civil Rights Movement will transform how the United States civil rights movement is taught. In a series of essays, Professor Leonard Moore outlines how he has taught courses on African American history at colleges with a largely white student body. By allowing for the implementation of a more nuanced curriculum, this is history instruction at its best. Essays provide strategies for teaching famous and forgotten civil rights people and places, suggestions for using music and movies, frameworks for teaching self-defense and activism outside the South, a curriculum guide for examining the Black Panther Party, and more.īooks in the popular Harvey Goldberg Series provide high school and introductory college-level instructors with ample resources and strategies for better engaging students in critical, thought-provoking topics. Speaking to the critical pedagogical need to teach civil rights history accurately and effectively, this volume goes beyond the usual focus on iconic leaders of the 1950s and 1960s to examine the broadly configured origins, evolution, and outcomes of African Americans' struggle for freedom. Moore’s Teaching Black History to White People is a memoir, history lesson, and instructional manual. ![]() The civil rights movement transformed the United States in such fundamental ways that exploring it in the classroom can pose real challenges for instructors and students alike. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() His uncle, fearing for his life, also devises plots to kill Hamlet. Well, fret not, my reading buddy! I’ve collected them here for you, listed them in order, and ranked them with my reading recommendation in mind. However, that might leave newcomers with a tough topic to think about: Which book should they start their deep-dive into Sager’s work? They have already published 6 books in 6 years under this pseudonym! Though come to think of it, it’s not exactly like Sager is a fresh-faced author, after all. With an ability to turn pretty much any classic thriller setup into something fresh, and some of the freshest protagonists that are both intriguing and sympathetic that I’ve read in years, Riley Sager is going to be an author to keep an eye out for over the next few years. ![]() 7/4/2023 0 Comments Witchlight jessi zabarsky![]() Even the magic practiced by Lelek flows through nature. ![]() The world of Witchlight is lush and bountiful, accepting. Panels are dedicated to scenes of walking through meadows, peering through tall reeds, rain falling on leaves and hands picking fruit and flowers.
